Committee Reporting Structure
All committees hold periodic meetings each semester and make recommendations to the department in response to charges from the department chair, questions or concerns brought forward by individual faculty members, or matters raised within the committee itself. These recommendations are presented to the department at regularly-scheduled faculty meetings. Each committee submits an annual report detailing the work of the previous year.
Standing Committees for 2018-19:
General Information (agreed upon at Fall 2017 full ENGL meeting)
- Committee chairs serve for two years to help accomplish tasks completely and to encourage mastery and leadership.
- Committee Chairs will note in their annual reports what their committee accomplished vis a vis their charge from the chair.
- Committee Chairs will report at every TTL monthly meeting to help encourage momentum and accountability.
- Moving forward, committee chairs will be selected at the Spring faculty retreat in order to hit the ground running in the Fall.

Connect faculty, current students, and alumni and regularly communicate department news and activities
- Identify process and lead process for Alum of the Year award which this year will involve a public lecture as part of the Dean’s signature series (I have ideas on this)
- Plan for and execute this event in the spring which includes recruiting alums in the area to come to campus to be a part of the event,, to be recognized at the event, and to build community.
- Form a Steering Committee of alums in the area to brainstorm and assist us in our alumni outreach goals. Megan Bell has volunteered to lead this steering committee (I am having coffee with her next week and will report).
- Build a listserv or facebook or _____________ of all alum. They can opt out if they do not wish to receive our communications.
- Create content/announcements (monthly?) to keep alums informed of what is going on and invite them.
- Spotlight the success of current alums by having some of them do promotional videos of our webpage (I have six solicited already) and by creating a list/archive of alums on website
