Welcome to the Honors College!
West Georgia's Honors College attracts the brightest of students regionally and nationally. The College fosters an atmosphere of cooperative learning, creative engagement, and innovative pedagogy to ensure that students have an environment in which they can excel and achieve their academic goals.
Students in the Honors College have the opportunity to engage with faculty and other honors students in small, rigorous classes and are encouraged and supported in undergraduate research, publishing, grant writing, community service activities, and preparation for postgraduate study or career success.

In Their Element: Program Offers Innovative Learning Opportunities for Students
This past summer, several University of West Georgia undergraduate chemistry students conducted advanced chemical research, from exploring explosive compounds to fighting cancer.

Anyone with a social media account sees a dozen animal pictures each day. But that doesn’t come close to the nearly 10,000 critter photos that University of West Georgia biology majors Joanne Wasdin and Thalia Young examined during spring semester.

and prayer. To make her journey of discovery easier, UWG awarded her the Zell Miller
Scholarship to cover tuition and the Presidential Scholarship to cover other expenses
for all four years of undergraduate studies.
Going Medieval: UWG Honors Student Studies Abroad, Excavates Bodies
Julia Lenderman didn’t have a typical study abroad experience. Her first time out of the country, she spent part of her trip excavating human bodies.
Lenderman, a University of West Georgia student majoring in anthropology, earned the chance to study and adventure abroad in Poznań, Poland, last summer through her involvement with UWG’s Honors College.Read More
