Dr. JC SeongCongratulations to Dr. Jeong C. (J.C.) Seong, Professor of Geospatial Technologies, for receiving a $23,500 grant from the U.S. Geological Survey (through AmericaView) to continue his work creating atlases of the state of Georgia. This will be his third atlas in the GeorgiaView series, and it will focus on mapping forest changes in Georgia. The project will create a land cover image atlas for the state, provide remote sensing outreach to a minimum of 65 local and regional offices throughout Georgia, and provide four undergraduate students with specialized geospatial technology skills and training. The seventy-six printed atlases will be distributed to libraries, the Atlanta Regional Commission, the Georgia Dept. of Transportation, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, and congressional offices.
