Dr. Ann McCleary

Congratulations to Dr. Ann McCleary(co-PI), Professor of History, Andrew Carter (co-PI), Curator of Collections, and Keri Adams (co-PI), Lecturer of History, for receiving a $17,301.24 grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation.This project involves curatorial services to be completed by the University of West Georgia, including:

  • redeveloping the exhibit at the Old Stone Church for the Catoosa County Historical Society,
  • creating an inventory of the collection,
  • preparing an exhibition plan, and
  • planning for additional exhibition elements


Dr. Peter Stoepker

Congratulations to Dr. Peter Stoepker(PI), Assistant Professor of Education, Dr. Duke Biber (co-PI), Assistant Professor of Education, Ms. Gina Brandenburg (co-PI), Instructor of Education, and Ms. Jennifer Heidorn (co-PI), Lecturer of Education, for receiving a $591,684 grant from HealthMPowers. The grant will fund The Middle School Girls Empowerment Project. The Middle School Girls Empowerment Project is designed to create a sustainable statewide model to engage MS girls in schools and out-of-school time sites in regular physical activity (PA) opportunities for girls through organized sports, nontraditional PA, and unstructured play to empower them to become the leaders and champions for PA.The five-year project began in January 2020 and will end in December 2024. HealthMPowers will serve as the Lead Agency, with Implementation Partners including the Georgia Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs, Inc., Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, and the University of West Georgia, all facilitating the site-level implementation of the girl-led PA programs. The prime award is between the Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation and HealthMPowers.
