Community Involvement Fair
Each semester we bring our local community partners to promote their agencies and inform students about various volunteer experiences. The partners’ mission include animal welfare, hunger relief, education, environmentalism, and many more! If you are interested in discovering ways to serve the local community, join us and meet our off-campus community partners who are always looking for volunteers.
Each month, Volunteer Programs coordinates community service projects and experiences that address social issues prevalent in Carrollton and surrounding communities. These small-scale experiences are designed to immerse students into the local area, develop a social-justice lens, and learn how small change can make big impact.
Giveback Days occur both on- and off-campus. Space and transportation are limited. RSVP on Volunteer Programs OrgSync page to be guaranteed a space.
The BIG Event
The BIG Event is one of the largest, one-day, student-run service projects in the nation where college students come together to say, “thank you”, to the residents of their community. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni participating in this annual spring event will show their appreciation to the surrounding community by completing service projects such as park restoration, trail beautification, painting, and crafting useful items for underserved populations.
UWG’s Alternative Break Program, #BreakingWest, immerses students into populations in need for one week with the goal of creating positive social change. Past trips have served national parks, Habitat for Humanity, and Give Kids the World.
Participating in this program will be an experience you are unlikely to forget. All trips include transportation, housing, and group meals at a low cost.
