We have two multifunctional group fitness studios that facilitate a wide variety of fun, safe and effective classes to meet the needs of our participants and help them reach their fitness goals. Our highly trained, certified instructors provide a welcoming environment and a fun & motivating workout experience. All classes include modifications for all fitness levels.

Group Fitness Class Descriptions

These are our typical class formats we offer each semester. Please note that many of these class offerings have been eliminated due to limited at-home resources to properly provide these classes during the COVID-19 crisis but are left here as an education resource of what we have offered previously and hope to offer in the future.

  • Cardio Classes
    • Sport Conditioning will give you a great agility and plyometrics workout in a team atmosphere. All levels are welcome to join in this fun, energetic class that will bring you back to being a part of a sports team.
    • Cycle classes are a fantastic outlet for being motivated to get an awesome cardio workout in. Our diverse playlists and instructor style will help you peddle through different intervals and varied cadences of moderate-to-high intensity for an epic cardiovascular training.
    • HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) pushes you to your limits through its all-encompassing circuit training class style that will have you sweating and working hard in minutes.


  • Dance Classes
    • Barre works on your muscular endurance with movements from ballet, yoga and pilates. It is a great challenge for all levels. Meet you at the Barre!
    • Hip-Hop Dance is one of the most popular classes on the schedule and will give you a chance to pop, lock, and drop it while offering a moderately-intense cardiovascular workout. It includes upbeat rhythmic movements matched with hip-hop music.
  • Strength Classes
    • 360 Pump gives you the all-encompassing workout your body craves. Strength training promotes many benefits including but not limited to increased metabolism, chronic disease management, increased bone density and a more positive body image. You can expect a little of everything in this class.
    • Butts & Guts makes you feel the burn and strengthens the lower body and core. All fitness levels are welcome for this class. Expect to be challenged with movements including squats, planks, steps and various forms of lower body strength exercises.
    • Kickboxing pushes your stamina as your work on your flexibility and coordination. This high-energy class is ag reat mix of martial arts techniques and cardio.
    • Ultimate Core focuses on hardCORE abdominal work. This class will challenge your abdominals, back extensors and other auxiliary muscles through strength, endurance and stability.
  • Yoga Classes
    • Morning Meditations helps you feel uplifted and ready to take on your day. This class focuses on refreshing your mind allowing you to feel fully recharged and prepared for anything that comes your way.
    • Vinyasa Yoga will let your body flow through various yoga postures following the breathing journey of three mountains. You will get the chance to focus in on your inner-self as you link each movement with your breath.
    • Power Yoga offers a way to move through various postures at a more upbeat pace. this lets you flow deeper into each pose as you build your muscular endurance by incorporating body-weight movements
    • Candlelight Yoga is a great way to end your day feeling calm and stress-free. This gentle class will let you focus on harmonizing your mind, body and soul as it takes your through various postures. Enjoy the energizing, positive atmosphere while surrounded by the twinkle of lights.

Fall 2020 Group Fitness Operations

  • Instructors will communicate class procedures and cleaning instructions at the beginning of each class
  • There will be 30 to 45 minutes between classes for instructors to disinfect and clean studios upon class conclusion, allowing air to circulate out of rooms
  • A maximum of 14 participants will be allowed per class. Spots will be given to those who pre-register first on myrec.westga.edu, then on a first-come, first-served basis

Cleaning Procedures

  • Equipment-sharing is not permitted in any group fitness class
  • Mats, blocks, straps, and any other porous equipment will no longer be available for use. Participants may bring their own mat, block, or strap if they wish to use this equipment during the class
  • All users are required to clean equipment after use and encouraged to do so before use
  • Upon exit, participants are asked to place their used cleaning towel in the dirty laundry bin outside the studios
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available in each studio for use
