Tyrone McNichols

My name is Dr. Tyrone (Ty) McNichols, and I am excited to be working for UWG.   I earned my Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics Education from Central Missouri State University.

I have been a practitioner for over 30 years, serving as an elementary and middle school teacher, middle school assistant principal, elementary school principal, assistant superintendent, superintendent and most recently as an adjunct professor and building principal.  As an administrator, I can relate to both teachers and administrators as we navigate through 21st century learning.  My academic attention is grounded on social justice as it relates to organizational systems in the pursuit of enhancing growth and development for professional learning communities.  The outcome of this journey has yielded increased student achievement, effective program development, and support for teachers and support staff. To successfully navigate through the 21st century, we must develop a deeper understand of and appreciation for the students and staff in our diverse learning environments.

My wife and I have three daughters and one son.  Apart from my son, all my children have graduated from college.  My son is going to be a college sophomore.  Like many families, we are very active and very supportive on each other.  We enjoy spending time together and eating, which has been easy during this extended on-lining process.
