The University of West Georgia is partnered with Nelnet Business Solutions (NBS) to allow students to pay tuition and fees in installments, helping make college more affordable.  The Nelnet payment plan is a flexible payment option that allows payments with either credit/debit card, or automatic withdrawal from a checking or savings account.  The payment plan is not a loan, and has no credit checks, interest, or finance charges associated with this option.  This plan can cover any tuition, student fees, meal plan, and on-campus housing charges up to $5,500.00.

  • When is my payment due each month?

    All payments are processed through an automated bank (ACH) or a credit/debit card payment the 15th* of each month. 
    *Payments were deducted on the 20th of each month in previous terms.

    The method of payment is set up when the payment plan agreement is initiated through Nelnet.

    If your payment fails, you have any questions regarding your payment schedule, or how payments are processed, please refer back to your initial Nelnet agreement or login to your Nelnet account.   

  • If I add, drop, and/or change my classes, will the amount of my payment plan automatically adjust with the change?

    Your payment plan will automatically decrease or increase to cover your current balance due, up $5,500 up until a set date* in the semester. Once the set date has passed your plan can not be changed.

    If change to your student account causes your total charges to exceed $5,500, then you will HAVE to make payment directly to UWG to cover the overage.  

    Nelnet will send you an email immediately to advise that changes have been made to your payment plan.

    Updates can take up to 3 business days to reflect on your Student Breakdown bill. 

    To confirm your account changes, please login directly to your Nelnet account. 

  • When financial aid is applied to my student account does my Nelnet payment plan automatically decrease?

    Once aid (scholarship, loan, or grant) is applied to your student account, your payment plan will be automatically reduced to cover the remaining balance due.

    If the authorized aid covers your total charges then your payment plan will be reduced to deduct no additional installments.

    Nelnet will send an email to the email address that you provide during enrollment to notify you of changes to your plan. 

    Overpayment's will be processed as refunds, to your BankMobile refund preference, after UWG receives both your authorized aid and the payments made to Nelnet payment plan.   

  • Why does my Nelnet payment plan not show up on my student breakdown bill as a payment?

    Payments made to Nelnet are applied to your student account after UWG receives the funds from Nelnet.

    UWG receives Nelnet payments in installments, payments will not post immediately after payment is taken. 

    When a payment plan is set up through Nelnet, a protection is placed on your student account to denote your payment plan.

    The protection is for the total amount of the Nelnet payment plan and protects you ONLY for your agreement amount through the fee payment deadline drops.

    It is critical that as drop deadlines approach, you check your student account balance and compare it to the amount of your payment plan to ensure your total charges are covered. You can do this by logging into your Nelnet account.

  • Can I change my credit card or bank information on file with Nelnet for automatic payments?

    Students/parents who have an active payment plan can make changes to the card or bank account used.

    To make the appropriate change, the student/parent can update their account online or they can contact a Nelnet customer service representative at 1-800-609-8056, available 24/7. There are restrictions that apply. 

    Please contact Nelnet directly for details about changes to the form of payment. 

  • Can I change a payment due date?

    No; all payment deductions will be made on the 15th* of each month.

  • Can I cancel my Nelnet payment plan?

    Payment plans cannot be cancelled. 

  • Can I make a payment prior to the due date using a different payment method? Can I make a payment directly to the University?

    Payment CANNOT be made prior to the 15th* of each month.
    *Payments were deducted on the 20th of each month in previous terms.

    Payments towards your Nelnet payment plan must be made directly through Nelnet and CANNOT be made to UWG.

  • Why is there an enrollment fee?

    Enrollment fees are charged in lieu of charging interest.
